PSX opens week with fluctuations, maintains strength

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started showing fluctuations moments after opening on Monday. The benchmark KSE-100 index opened trading at 114,398.69 points and fell to 114,339.43 points within 15 minutes of trading.

However, soon after, the index managed to regain strength and grew up to 114,782.67 points, showing an increase of over 380 points. The peak also proved to be short-lived and the market began losing the gains once again.

For the most part, however, the KSE-100 index has managed to remain above the opening level, showing some incentive towards growth.

The outgoing week saw stability in the stock market, even though trading activity slowed down. This can partly be attributed to the reduced operational hours due to Ramzan. Cement and power sector remained notable performers last week, and today as well, these two sectors managed to stay in green despite fluctuations.
