KSE-100 rises over 700 points, nears 117,000 mark

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started the second trading session of the week on a positive note. As of 9:26 AM, the KSE-100 index rose by 773.5 points, reaching 116,973.09, with a trading volume of 18.36 million shares.

Several companies showed significant gains during the session. Among them were PASM, which rose by 12.22 per cent to Rs4.50, and PKGI, up by 10.76 per cent to Rs9.37. Other notable performers included CWSM, up by 10.01 per cent to Rs57.16, and PREMA, gaining 10.00 per cent to Rs56.97.

In contrast, some companies saw declines, including IDRT, which dropped by 10.01 per cent to Rs25.45, and SHDT, down by 9.69 per cent to Rs21.06. SINDM fell by 9.48 per cent to Rs10.41, while SSML slipped by 7.76 per cent to Rs13.31.

Over the last 52 weeks, the PSX has fluctuated between 64,811.91 and 118,735.10 points. Year-to-date, the index has shown a 1.22 per cent gain, while in the past year, it has surged by 79.58 per cent.

On Monday, the benchmark KSE-100 index closed at 116,199.59, gaining 663.43 points or 0.57 per cent. Throughout the session, the index remained in the green, recording an intraday high of 116,626.82 points (+1,090.66) and a low of 115,883.22 points (+347.06). The total trading volume for the day was 286.47 million shares.

Key companies that boosted the index included:

MARI Petroleum, adding 350.62 points,

Pakistan State Oil (PSO), contributing 118.67 points,

Lucky Cement (LUCK), up by 83.63 points,

Oil & Gas Development Company (OGDC), adding 59.30 points,

The Searle Company (SEARL), with a 45.58-point contribution.

On the other hand, some companies negatively impacted the index:

Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), losing 82.14 points,

Engro Fertilizers (EFERT), down by 80.37 points,

Hub Power Company (HUBC), shedding 37.50 points,

Colgate-Palmolive (COLG), down 28.31 points,

Pakistan GasPort Limited (PKGP), losing 15.40 points.
