Interbank closing: PKR settles unchanged against USD

WEB DESK: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained stable against the US dollar (USD) during Wednesday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 278.3 per USD, mirroring the previous session’s rate.

Throughout the session, the currency fluctuated slightly, reaching an intraday high (bid) of PKR 278.5 and a low (ask) of PKR 278.3.

Meanwhile, in the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.18 for buying and PKR 279.59 for selling.

Rupee’s performance against foreign currencies

Swiss Franc (CHF): The PKR experienced a notable gain of 89.3 paisa against the Swiss franc, closing at PKR 311.79 compared to the previous session’s rate of PKR 310.89.

Euro (EUR): The rupee appreciated by 20.41 paisa against the euro, ending the day at PKR 302.64 from PKR 302.84 a day earlier.

British Pound (GBP): The PKR slightly strengthened against the British pound, becoming cheaper by 3.63 paisa, with the exchange rate closing at PKR 355.57 compared to PKR 355.61 from the previous session.

Chinese Yuan (CNY): The Chinese yuan saw a marginal depreciation of 0.92 paisa, closing at PKR 38.41 against the previous value of PKR 38.42.

UAE Dirham (AED): The value of the UAE dirham decreased by 0.29 paisa, closing at PKR 75.77, unchanged from the previous session.

Japanese Yen (JPY): The PKR gained 0.88 paisa against the Japanese yen, closing at PKR 1.7828 compared to PKR 1.7916 from the previous session.

Saudi Riyal (SAR): The Saudi riyal closed at PKR 74.2, marking a gain of 0.31 paisa from its previous rate of PKR 74.2.

The rupee’s stable performance against the dollar and its varied movements against other major currencies reflect the ongoing fluctuations in the global forex market.
