Rs3000 fine for washing car at home, massive fine for wrong parking in Lahore

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has taken strict measures to combat the issue of smog in the city. In response to petitions aimed at controlling smog, Justice Shahid Kareem presided over the proceedings.

The court expressed dissatisfaction regarding the initiation of development projects in Lahore, emphasising the need for adequate preparation six months before the smog season begins.

The judge questioned the haste of the caretaker government in launching these projects and raised concerns about the sources of funding, which remain unclear.

To address the problem, the court issued specific fines: individuals washing vehicles at home will be fined Rs3,000, while those parking their vehicles improperly in the city will face a fine of Rs5,000.

The fines collected will be directed towards the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to aid in addressing the water crisis, which is worsening across the country.
