Rupee registers notable gain against dollar

KARACHI: A day after registering a nominal decrease, the Pakistani rupee has appreciated by 8 paisa against the US dollar on Wednesday.

In a post shared by the state Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on the social media platform X, the rupee appreciated by 8 paisa against the dollar, closing at Rs279.34 in the interbank market.

On Tuesday, the dollar closed at Rs279.42 in the interbank market. This records a 0.03 per cent appreciation of the rupee against the US currency.

Meanwhile, on Monday the dollar closed at Rs279.41 in the interbank market.

SBP announces public holiday

The SBP on Tuesday announced a public holiday for February 8 in light of the upcoming general elections scheduled on same date.

The state bank posted the announcement on X.
