Car sales in Pakistan surge by over 112 per cent in October

ISLAMABAD: Car sales in Pakistan surged by more than 112 per cent in October and reached 13,108 units compared to 6,180 units sold in the same month last year, as per the data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

Sales on a monthly basis jumped 27.3 per cent as compared to 10,297 cars sold in the previous month.

For the first four months of FY25 (4MFY25), total sales were recorded at 40,693 units, showing a 49.8 per cent increase from the 27,163 units sold in 4MFY24.

Passenger car sales for October increased by 117.7 per cent on an annual basis, totalling 10,557 units, up from 4,850 units in October last year.

Car production also rose 138.5 per cent YoY, with 9,227 units manufactured in November as compared to 3,868 units during last year.

The majority of sales were recorded in the below 1000cc category, with 5,991 units sold. Leading the segment was as usual the Suzuki Alto, which accounted for 4,685 units. Second was Suzuki Bolan with 1,044 units, and third was Suzuki Every with 262 units.

About 3,997 units were sold in the 1300cc and above category. Toyota (Corolla and Yaris) led sedan sales with 2,101 units, followed by Honda (Civic & City) with 1,418 units, Suzuki Swift with 330 units, and Hyundai Elantra with 105 units.

In the 1000cc segment, about 569 units were sold, with the Suzuki Cultus leading with 343 units and the Suzuki WagonR following with 226 units.
