Gas prices to remain unchanged until December, says Musadik Malik

Gas price hike

WEB DESK: Minister for Petroleum, Musadik Malik, announced on Tuesday that the current gas tariff will remain unchanged for the next three months, providing relief to citizens as the winter season approaches.

Speaking at a press conference, Malik clarified that there will be no increase in gas tariffs until at least December and January. This decision is part of the government’s broader efforts to ease the financial strain on the public.

Malik reiterated the government’s commitment to shielding citizens from additional costs, highlighting that any future relief measures will be discussed in collaboration with all provinces.

In another significant move, the minister noted that the Punjab Government’s Rs14 per unit relief for power consumers using up to 500 units will benefit 98 per cent of households.

Additionally, the federal government has already announced a subsidy of Rs50 billion for consumers using up to 200 units nationwide

Shifting his focus to political matters, Malik urged political leaders to avoid creating unnecessary turmoil and instead engage constructively in parliamentary committees.

He criticised certain groups for hindering the nation’s progress, accusing them of not wanting Pakistan to prosper.
