WEB DESK: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has embarked on a crucial initiative to enhance the natural gas supply to the western region of the country by initiating the development of a 31-kilometre-long gas pipeline project.
The groundbreaking ceremony for this significant project took place on Wednesday.
The focal point of this venture is the installation of a 24-inch-diameter gas pipeline, stretching from Sales Metre Station (SMS) Kathore to SMS Surjani.
The estimated cost for this major project is Rs5.1 billion, with a targeted completion date set for June 2024, as outlined in an official statement.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of the Managing Director of SSGC, Imran Maniar, who officially commenced the project at a ceremony hosted at the site of the Attock Cement Pvt. Ltd. (ACPL) main valve assembly.
This strategic initiative is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of the SSGC distribution system. Additionally, it aims to address the low-pressure issues prevalent in the existing 12-inch and 20-inch diameter ACPL distribution lines.
The project is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting the escalating demand for natural gas in the SITE Area and Hub Town.
Distinguished figures attending the groundbreaking ceremony included Saeed Rizvi, Deputy Managing Director of Operations; Ghulam Moeen Butt, Assistant General Manager of Technical Services; Jamshed Nisar, Assistant General Manager of Transmission; Ghulam Ali Mahar, Deputy General Manager and In-Charge of Projects and Construction; and other esteemed company executives, technicians, and workers.
This endeavour represents a step towards fortifying the infrastructure and meeting the growing energy needs of the western region.
