Stock market maintains moderate strength

KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange has shown moderate strength on Thursday, after showing a tumultuous couple of days.

The benchmark KSE-100 index posted an impressive upwards trend on Monday, followed by fluctuations on Tuesday, and resuming recovery on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the KSE-100 index opened at 51,177.13 points, quickly rising to 51,520.68 points, and then settling down at 51,345.44 points towards noon. By midday, the index had posted 168.31 points.

However, Thursday saw a huge volume of trading with nearly 104 million shares trading hand before 12 p.m. In terms of companies leading the charge on the index, despite a net gain since morning, most leaders for the day were seen trading in red. OGDC, PPL and KAPCO were all on the losing end of the trading during first half of the day.
