LAHORE: In a decisive move to safeguard public safety, a comprehensive crackdown was initiated on Friday against the production and sale of substandard gas cylinders in Lahore.

Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, in a formal statement, announced a series of stringent actions aimed at curbing the menace.

A total of 29 shops were promptly sealed, and legal actions were initiated as 11 cases were filed against the violators.

The authorities took action by confiscating machinery associated with the production of substandard cylinders, sending a clear message about the zero-tolerance policy towards endangering public safety.

Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider highlighted the severity of the issue by stating that the crackdown was essential due to the inherent threat posed by substandard cylinders to the lives of citizens.

Emphasising the importance of prioritising public safety, she underscored that playing with the lives of people will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In addition to sealing shops and filing cases, warnings were issued to the owners of the affected establishments.

To ensure sustained vigilance and enforcement, all price control magistrates, Assistant Commissioners (ACs), and revenue staff have been directed to actively monitor the situation.

This coordinated effort seeks to prevent the illegal production and sale of substandard cylinders in the future.
