Textile exports rise by over 9 per cent in nine months: PBS report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s textile exports rose by 9.38 per cent in the first nine months of the current financial year, reaching $13.61 billion, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). During the same period last year, textile exports stood at $12.44 billion.
The overall export figures from July to March of the 2024–25 fiscal year show a 7.82 per cent increase year-on-year. Total exports for the period reached $24.72 billion, compared to $22.93 billion recorded in the same period last year.
In March 2025 alone, exports were provisionally recorded at $2.65 billion, reflecting a 6.27 per cent increase from February’s $2.49 billion. Compared to March 2024, exports grew by 3.08 per cent.
Textile exports in March 2025 showed a month-on-month increase of 1.18 per cent, rising to $1.43 billion from $1.41 billion in February.
However, rice exports declined during the nine-month period. From July to March, rice shipments were valued at $2.76 billion — down 5.91 per cent from $2.93 billion in the same period of the previous year.
Key export items in March 2025 included knitwear (Rs108.1 billion), readymade garments (Rs90 billion), bedwear (Rs71.6 billion), non-basmati rice (Rs55.3 billion), cotton cloth (Rs40.9 billion), towels (Rs25 billion), Basmati rice (Rs21.6 billion), made-up articles excluding towels and bedwear (Rs18.2 billion), petroleum products excluding naphtha (Rs17 billion), and seafood (Rs16.6 billion).
