Toyota Corolla and Yaris lead Pakistan’s sedan sales in August

ISLAMABAD: Car sales in Pakistan, including light commercial vehicles (LCVs), vans, and jeeps, went up by 14.8 per cent in August 2024, reaching 8,699 units, compared to 7,579 in August last year.
According to the latest figures from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), on a month-to-month basis, sales increased by 1.3 per cent, with 8,699 cars sold in August 2024, compared to 8,589 in July 2024.
Over the first two months of the fiscal year 2025 (2MFY25), a total of 17,288 cars were sold, marking a 36.4 per cent rise compared to 12,671 units sold in the same period last year.

In August, passenger car sales specifically rose by 8.6 per cent, with 6,417 cars sold, up from 5,909 in August 2023.
However, the production of passenger cars in August 2024 dropped by 26.9 per cent, with only 4,557 units made compared to 6,231 units in August last year.
The PAMA data showed that the most passenger cars were sold in the ‘1300cc and Above’ category, with 3,330 units sold in August.
Among these, Toyota (Corolla & Yaris) led the sales with 1,565 units, followed by Honda (Civic & City) with 1,073 units, Suzuki Swift with 559 units, and Hyundai Elantra with 70 units.
The second-best selling category was ‘Below 1000cc’, with 2,766 cars sold. Suzuki Alto led this category with 2,023 units sold, followed by Suzuki Bolan with 743 units.
In the ‘1000cc’ category, 321 cars were sold in August 2024. Suzuki WagonR had the highest sales at 190 units, while Suzuki Cultus followed with 131 units sold.
