How the Toyota Mark X is still turning heads in Pakistan

Toyota Mark X for sale in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: It might have been out of production for years, but in Pakistan, the Toyota Mark X isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it’s still going strong in 2025, with its fanbase as passionate as ever.

Blending rear-wheel-drive dynamics with understated luxury and punchy V6 power, the Mark X remains one of the most talked-about used sedans in the country, and for good reason.

While modern offerings like the latest Honda Civic or even entry-level BMWs attract plenty of buyers, there’s something about the Mark X that just hits differently. For many millennials, it’s the car that sat on their school notebooks and computer wallpapers, a dream machine that felt within reach. Now, with imports available and nostalgia kicking in, it’s become a cult classic on Pakistani streets.

Launched back in 2004 as the successor to the Mark II, the Mark X was Toyota’s answer to those craving a bit more excitement in a mid-size sedan. With two generations produced until 2019, the Mark X was largely focused on Asian markets but quickly found a following far beyond its target demographic, especially in Pakistan.

What made it special? For starters, it was rear-wheel drive, not something you find often in this segment. Add in a naturally aspirated V6, sharp handling, and a sleek silhouette, and suddenly you had a sedan that felt closer to a personal GT car than your average family cruiser.

In Pakistan, it didn’t take long for enthusiasts to notice. As soon as imports started arriving, the Mark X quickly became a statement car. Whether stock or modified, it always stood out, and it still does.

Toyota Mark X variants

Most of the Mark X models you’ll spot on Pakistani roads fall into two camps: the 250G and the 300G. The 250G is the more common of the two, powered by a 2.5-litre V6 that balances performance and fuel economy. The 300G steps things up with a 3.0-litre V6, but with fuel prices being what they are, the 250G remains the smarter and more popular pick.

Trim levels vary, with options like the base model, Premium, and the sporty S Package. High-spec variants can include leather seats, push-start ignition, sunroofs, and reverse cameras, features that were ahead of their time back in the mid-2000s.

Toyota Mark X price in Pakistan

If you’re looking to buy a Toyota Mark X in Pakistan, don’t expect straightforward pricing. Unlike most cars where the price aligns with the model year, the value of a Mark X heavily depends on its condition, how well it’s been maintained, and whether it’s been modified. Clean units, especially those over a decade old, are increasingly rare in Pakistan, and that rarity allows owners to set their own prices.

Trying to settle on a single price for a Mark X is nearly impossible. Prices vary widely depending on the model year, variant, package, and overall condition. A well-maintained 2004 model typically falls between Rs3.8 million and Rs5.5 million. Cleaner, newer models from 2010 can easily go beyond Rs6 million, if you can even find one in good condition.

The Mark X 250G remains the most sought-after Mark X variant, largely due to its balance between affordability and performance. However, as clean examples become scarce, sellers are demanding higher prices and buyers are still paying.

Import duties, taxes, and registration fees further affect the final price, meaning no two listings are ever exactly the same.

You may also notice a significant price gap between Mark X 250G and Mark X 300G variants of the same model year. For instance, a 2004 Mark X 250G (2,500cc) might be available for Rs4.5 million, while the same year’s 300G (3,000cc) could cost up to Rs5.5 million, an entire million more.

Pricing also depends on the trim level. A 2004 Mark X 250G F Package Smart Edition may be listed between Rs5.8 million and Rs6.1 million, whereas a 300G Premium variant might go for around Rs5.5 million.

Some 2004 Mark X 250G units are currently available for as low as Rs4.3 million. Meanwhile, a 2006 Mark X 300G Premium in decent condition may fall within a Rs6 million budget. In comparison, a 2006 Mark X 250G S Package can be found for around Rs5 million. That said, cleaner units are commanding even higher prices as some sellers are listing “exceptionally” clean 2006 300G Premium models for as high as Rs7.3 million.

As for later models, a 2010 Mark X 250G Relax Selection Limited is currently listed online for up to Rs8.75 million. In some cases, sellers who have kept their 2010 models in excellent condition are asking as high as Rs12.5 million (Rs1.25 crore), making it one of the most expensive Mark X listings for that year and variant.

In short, buying a Mark X in Pakistan requires careful research and a flexible budget. With prices driven more by condition than model year, every car tells a different story and comes with a different price tag.

Looking for a Toyota Mark X for sale in Pakistan?

Thanks to platforms like PakWheels, OLX, and Facebook Marketplace, hunting down a Mark X isn’t difficult. But buying the right one is another story. Many of these cars are imports, so checking the auction sheet, verifying the chassis number, and inspecting service history is crucial. Accident repairs, engine swaps, and heavy modifications are not uncommon, so a proper mechanical inspection is highly recommended.

Certified dealers sometimes offer slightly higher prices but bundle in extras like warranties and help with paperwork, which can be worth the premium, especially if it’s your first import.

The Mark X 350G variant, which comes with a 3500cc engine, is quite rare in Pakistan but offers significantly more power and quicker performance compared to both the 250G and 300G models. Surprisingly, despite its rarity, it is priced close to the 300G variant, making it a good deal for those seeking more power, provided they can find one.

Currently, only a few listings for the 350G are available on online platforms, with some cars spotted in major cities such as Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

Why Pakistani car enthusiasts love the Mark X?

If you’ve ever driven a Mark X, you’ll get it. The rear-wheel-drive layout gives it a dynamic edge over the average sedan, while the V6 under the bonnet delivers enough grunt to make highway pulls and cornering genuinely fun.

The 250G’s 2.5-litre engine makes around 200 horsepower and is paired with a 6-speed auto in most variants. It’s smooth, confident, and refined, equally at home cruising the motorway or navigating city traffic.

Add in decent cabin insulation, a well-balanced suspension, and creature comforts like dual-zone climate control and cruise control, and it’s easy to see why owners rave about it even years after production stopped.

Toyota Mark X fuel average

For a car with a V6 engine, the Mark X is considered “quite reasonable” in terms of fuel consumption. Most owners report an average of 6 to 9 kilometres per litre in city driving, with even better mileage on the motorway, especially with a light foot on the accelerator.

However, some owners on online forums claim that their Mark X does not deliver more than 8 kilometres per litre, regardless of driving style or conditions.

Higher fuel consumption is mostly associated with the 300G variant. In contrast, those reporting better fuel economy, sometimes up to 12 kilometres per litre, typically own the 250G model. This difference is largely due to engine size, as the 250G features a slightly smaller engine, while the 300G is equipped with a larger one that naturally consumes more fuel.

The 350G variant, which comes with an even bigger engine, appears to be the least fuel-efficient of all, consuming the most fuel among the Mark X models.

When it comes to maintenance, the Mark X is generally manageable. Spare parts are widely available in major cities, and most mechanics are familiar with Toyota platforms. That said, suspension repairs and engine-related work can be costly, particularly on modified or poorly maintained vehicles.

A favourite among modders

One of the Mark X’s biggest appeals lies in how well it takes to customisation. From widebody kits and slammed suspensions to smoked tail lights, carbon fibre hoods, and turbo builds, the modding community has gone all in on this platform.

Whether it’s a track-inspired street build or a clean, VIP-style cruiser, the Mark X offers a solid base that owners can shape into whatever suits their taste. It’s a regular at car meets, and its presence across social media tuning pages keeps it relevant among a new generation of enthusiasts.

The Mark X may have exited Toyota’s lineup, but in Pakistan, it’s more alive than ever. Its combination of luxury, performance, and personalisation makes it stand out in a sea of newer but often less exciting sedans.

If you’re looking to buy one, the best advice is to do your homework, compare listings, and focus on condition above all else. Clean 250G Mark X variants continue to offer the best value for money, and given their rarity, prices are unlikely to drop anytime soon.

In a world of lookalike crossovers and badge-engineered sedans, the Toyota Mark X continues to deliver something special, and Pakistani car guys are making sure it stays that way.
