DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has set ambitious targets for the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. By the end of 2025, the country plans to install over 500 EV charging stations across its territories, a significant boost from the more than 100 stations currently operational.
The announcement was made by Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. The ministry, which owns 50% of UAEV, is working with local authorities and the private sector to develop a comprehensive network of charging stations that can support the growing demand for electric vehicles.

This expansion is a key component of the UAE’s push for sustainable energy and environmental protection. As part of its national sustainability goals, the country aims to reduce emissions and increase the use of renewable energy.
The development of a larger EV charging network aligns with the UAE’s commitment to promoting clean transportation and reducing carbon emissions. With the government’s aggressive investments in sustainable energy, the adoption of electric vehicles is seen as a key driver of the country’s environmental strategy.
The UAEV is already seeing rapid growth, with over 100 EV chargers installed across the country in 2024. The government’s initiative is set to propel the development of a robust infrastructure that supports widespread EV adoption in the UAE.
