ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sat down with a group of US investors, led by Gentry Beach, a Texas-based hedge fund manager with close ties to the Trump family.
The meeting aimed to discuss Pakistan’s investment opportunities and its economic potential.
The investors showed interest in sectors such as mining, renewable energy, infrastructure, and technology, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed their enthusiasm and reassured them that the government is committed to making it easier for foreign investors to do business in Pakistan. He spoke about efforts to simplify processes and provide strong support for those looking to invest.
He also pointed out Pakistan’s key strengths, such as its strategic location, youthful workforce, and a growing market, making it an appealing destination for global investment.
The visit, which came shortly after the new US administration took office, is seen as an important step in building stronger diplomatic and economic ties.
During the meeting, Gentry Beach praised Pakistan’s economic potential and expressed excitement about exploring new investment opportunities. He also acknowledged the government’s pro-investment approach and said he was confident about Pakistan’s future growth.
This engagement, according to the PMO statement, reflects the government’s efforts to attract foreign investment, boost economic growth, and create jobs for Pakistanis.
Beach also shared his thoughts on Pakistan’s resilience at a recent event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, where he spoke about the country’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He recognised the tremendous loss of life and said Pakistan deserves recognition for its efforts.
He went on to describe Pakistan as an “incredible country,” emphasising its welcoming business environment for US investors, particularly under the Trump administration.
Beach urged President Trump to strengthen ties with Pakistan, calling for a deeper and more cooperative partnership between the two nations.
