Intraday trade: Pakistani rupee gains 28 paisa against US dollar

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) recorded a slight gain on the last trading day of the week against the US dollar (USD).

In the morning, the PKR was seen 0.1 per cent higher against the greenback, hovering at Rs277.95 after appreciating by 28 paisa on Friday.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), on the previous trading day, the PKR declined by 6.23 paisa or 0.02 per cent against the greenback in the interbank session to settle at Rs278.23 per USD, compared to Wednesday’s closing of Rs278.17.

As compared to other major foreign currencies, here is how the local currency performed on Thursday:

Saudi Riyal: The PKR fell by 0.03 per cent or 2.45 paisa against Saudi Riyal to Rs74.04.

UAE Dirham: The PKR depreciated by 2.01 paisa or 0.03 per cent against the UAE Dirham to close at Rs75.75.

Euro: The PKR dropped by 0.17 per cent or 48.27 paisa against the Euro, closing the day at Rs292.60.

British Pound: The PKR declined 0.18 per cent or 63.58 paisa to end the day at Rs355.12 against the British Pound.

Swiss Franc: The PKR slipped 0.28 per cent or 89 paisa to settle at Rs315.33 against Swiss Franc.

December 2: The PKR increased by 0.03 per cent, or 7.65 paisa, against the USD to end the day at Rs277.97 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs278.05.

December 3: The PKR increased by 10.48 paisa, or 0.04 per cent, against the USD to settle the trade at Rs277.87 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.97.

December 4: The PKR fell by 5.41 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, against the USD, settling the trade at Rs277.92 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.87.

December 5: The PKR fell by 0.01 per cent or 2.17 paisa against the USD to close the day at Rs277.94 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.92.

December 6: PKR dropped by 0.02 per cent or 6.47 paisa against the USD to settle the day at Rs278.01 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs277.94.

December 9: PKR rose by 0.01 per cent or 3.42 paisa or against the USD to settle the trade at Rs277.98 per USD, compared to the last closing of Rs278.01.

December 10: PKR dropped by 0.03 per cent or 7 paisa against the USD to end the day at Rs278.05, compared to previous closing of Rs277.98.

December 11: PKR decreased by 0.04 per cent or 11.82 paisa against the USD to close the day at Rs278.17, compared to last closing of Rs278.05.

December 12: PKR declined by 0.02 per cent or 6.23 paisa against the USD to settle end the day at Rs278.23, versus previous closing of Rs278.17.

The Pakistani rupee has made a notable recovery this calendar year, rebounding from its position as one of Asia’s worst-performing currencies last year.
