Intraday trading: PKR gains four paisa against USD

KARACHI: On Tuesday, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) saw a slight improvement against the US dollar (USD), gaining four paisa in early trade. Around 9:50 am, the greenback was quoted at 278.60 PKR by foreign exchange dealers.
The previous day, the rupee had depreciated by 10.52 paisa, or 0.04 per cent, in the interbank market, ending the session at 278.64 PKR per dollar, down from the previous closing rate of 278.54 PKR.

In terms of other major currencies, the British Pound fell by 1.25 on Monday, closing at 366.10 compared to 367.35 on Friday. The rupee gained 35.7 paisa against the Euro, closing at 308.44, up from 308.80.
Against the Japanese Yen, the rupee strengthened by 1.91 paisa, ending at 1.9019 versus 1.921 the previous trading day.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Yuan depreciated by 8.69 paisa, closing at 39.20 compared to 39.29 in the previous session. The Swiss Franc also saw a decrease of 30.15 paisa, closing at 328.10, down from 328.41.
Since the start of the current financial year, the rupee has depreciated by 30.19 paisa, or 0.11 per cent, against the dollar. However, during the calendar year, it has appreciated by 3.22, or 1.15 per cent.
