Interbank closing: PKR gains 12.23 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: In Friday’s interbank trading session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 12.23 paisa against the US dollar. The local currency closed at PKR 278.38 per USD, an improvement from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.50 per USD.
During the session, the rupee experienced an intraday high bid of PKR 278.80 and a low ask of PKR 278.60. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.75 for buying and PKR 278.50 for selling.
In comparison to other major currencies, the British pound increased by 51.22 paisa, closing at PKR 355.72, up from PKR 355.21 the previous day. The Chinese yuan, however, remained stable at PKR 38.31, reflecting a minor decrease of 0.05 paisa.
The Saudi riyal closed at PKR 74.21, down by 2.86 paisa from its previous value of PKR 74.24. The Swiss franc saw a significant gain of 98.21 paisa, closing at PKR 309.96 compared to PKR 308.98 from the prior session.
Against the Japanese yen, the rupee lost 0.43 paisa, ending at PKR 1.7315 compared to PKR 1.7272 the day before.
The UAE dirham decreased in value by 3.53 paisa, closing at PKR 75.82 from the previous rate of PKR 75.79. Lastly, the rupee depreciated by 60.56 paisa against the euro, closing at PKR 301.44, down from PKR 300.83.
Overall, the performance of the Pakistani rupee showed a mixed trend against various major currencies, reflecting the ongoing fluctuations in the foreign exchange market.
