Interbank closing: PKR declines by 14 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: In the latest interbank trading session on Thursday, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a depreciation of 14 paisa against the US dollar (USD), settling the trade at PKR 278.4 per USD.
This contrasts with the previous session’s closure at PKR 278.26 per USD.
Exchange companies in the open market quoted the US dollar at PKR 276.96 for buying and PKR 279.45 for selling.
Throughout the trading day, the currency reached an intraday high (bid) of 278.65 and a low (ask) of 278.45.
Comparatively, against major currencies, the PKR witnessed a decrease of 1.46 rupees against the Euro, concluding at 302.71 compared to the previous value of 301.25.
The Swiss franc gained 1.95 rupees, closing at 309.3 in contrast to 307.36 from the previous session. The Chinese Yuan experienced a gain of 5 paisa, closing at 38.57 against 38.52 from the prior session.
Additionally, the Saudi Riyal closed at 74.23 with a gain of 3.73 paisa from its value of 74.2 a day ago, while the U.A.E Dirham increased by 3.91 paisa from 75.8 to 75.76.
The British Pound became more expensive by 2.56 rupees, closing at 353 compared to 350.45 from the previous day. Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 2 paisa, closing at 1.8027 versus 1.7827 a day ago.
For the current financial year, the PKR has appreciated against the Dollar by 7.59 rupees or 2.72 per cent. Similarly, in the current calendar year, PKR has appreciated by 3.46 rupees or 1.24 per cent.
