Interbank closing: PKR gains 6.79 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: In Friday’s interbank trading session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained 6.79 paisa against the US dollar (USD), settling at PKR 278.34 per USD.

This marks an improvement from the previous session’s close of PKR 278.41 per USD. Throughout the session, the rupee fluctuated between a high bid of PKR 278.70 and a low ask of PKR 278.50.

In the open market, exchange companies set the dollar’s buying rate at PKR 278 and its selling rate at PKR 279.75.

Comparing the rupee’s performance against other major currencies, the British Pound (GBP) depreciated by 85.3 paisa, ending the day at PKR 358.21, down from PKR 359.06.

Conversely, the rupee lost 3.77 paisa against the Euro (EUR), closing at PKR 302.05, compared to PKR 302.01 previously.

Against the Japanese Yen (JPY), the rupee gained 2.04 paisa, ending the session at PKR 1.8077, up from PKR 1.8281. The Swiss Franc (CHF) saw a decline of 97.16 paisa, closing at PKR 315.15, compared to PKR 316.12 from the previous day.

The Chinese Yuan (CNY) dropped by 14.7 paisa, closing at PKR 38.39, down from PKR 38.53. The U.A.E Dirham (AED) fell by 1.95 paisa to PKR 75.80, down from PKR 75.78.

Similarly, the Saudi Riyal (SAR) closed at PKR 74.19, with a decrease of 2 paisa from PKR 74.21.

Overall, the Pakistani rupee demonstrated a mixed performance across various currencies in the latest trading session.
