Interbank closing: PKR loses 11.07 paisa against USD


US dollar to Pakistani rupee intraday

WEB DESK: In Wednesday’s interbank session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a slight depreciation of 11.07 paisa against the US dollar (USD), closing at PKR 278.61 per USD.

This marked a small decline from the previous session’s closing rate of PKR 278.50 per USD.

Throughout the day, the PKR showed varied performance with an intraday high bid of PKR 278.90 and a low ask of PKR 278.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.63 for buying and PKR 280.33 for selling.

Performance against other currencies

The PKR’s performance against other major currencies was mixed:

British Pound (GBP): The PKR depreciated by 93.49 paisa, closing at PKR 355.28 compared to PKR 354.35 in the previous session.

Swiss Franc (CHF): The currency saw a gain of 19.27 paisa, ending the day at PKR 310.63, up from PKR 310.44.

U.A.E. Dirham (AED): There was a modest increase of 3.12 paisa, with the currency closing at PKR 75.82 from PKR 75.85.

Euro (EUR): The PKR appreciated by 35.44 paisa, closing at PKR 299.39 compared to the previous session’s PKR 299.75.

Chinese Yuan (CNY): The rupee gained 1.74 paisa, ending the day at PKR 38.41 against PKR 38.39 from the previous day.

Japanese Yen (JPY): The PKR lost 0.17 paisa, closing at PKR 1.7716 versus PKR 1.7699 a day earlier.

Saudi Riyal (SAR): The currency saw a gain of 1.76 paisa, closing at PKR 74.28 from PKR 74.26.

This varied performance highlights the fluctuating nature of the PKR in the face of multiple global currencies, reflecting the broader economic dynamics at play.
