World Bank announces $108 million in support for KP development projects

ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has announced an additional $108 million in financial support for Pakistan, which will be utilised for development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to an official statement.
Of the total amount, $78 million has been allocated for the Rural Accessibility Project, while $30 million will support the Tourism Development Project in the province.
The primary objective of these projects is to improve access to essential services such as health, education, employment opportunities, and local markets. The initiatives also aim to boost road rehabilitation and disaster preparedness, benefiting local communities in the region.
According to the World Bank, the Rural Accessibility Project is expected to benefit around 1.76 million people, particularly by providing girls with safer and more affordable school transport.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Development Project will focus on improving access to scenic and cultural destinations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project is also expected to generate local employment, offer training opportunities, and support the preservation of cultural heritage, the Bank added.
