Alignment of nutrition with technology is the need of the hour, Agha Fakhr Durrani
A two-day international conference was organized under the food engineering department of NED University, Karachi, which was presided over by Shaikh-ul-Jamia Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi. DG Food Authority Agha Fakhr Hussain Durrani along with Provincial Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Tufail also participated in the conference. Dean Mechanical and Chemical Engineering Dr. Amir Iqbal welcomed the guests at the reception. Addressing the participants on this occasion, Shaikh-ul-Jamia Dr. Sarosh Lodhi said that the home is the individual unit of the society and the mother forms the society. He said that every child born in Pakistan has jaundice which is mainly due to mother’s diet. He said that our mothers need healthy food and that a healthy diet will create a healthy society. He further said that there was an urgent need to focus on research and nutritional issues. President Pakistan Society of Microbiology Dr. Shahana Arooj Kazmi participated as the note speaker, he said that our aim is to give awareness about the health of food. The youth learn from their educational institutions so that the stage of awareness and application in the society begins.
Special guest Director General Food Authority Agha Fakhar Hussain appreciated the efforts of Food Engineering Department of NED. He said that the Sindh Food Authority has always tried to ensure that hygiene standards are not compromised. He further said that we are building research laboratories in collaboration with universities so that under the guidance of teachers, the knowledge of nutritional issues reaches the students. NED is a unique name in the world of technology Aligning nutrition with technology is the need of the hour. According to the spokesperson of Jamia, 22 papers were read in this conference, while the chairman of the food department, Dr. Zahoor Awan, thanked the local and foreign experts for their arrival and souvenirs were also presented.
