Industrial waste and construction harming mangroves, Tariq Alexander Kaiser


A two-day international conference titled Urban Ecology Sustainable Planning and Inclusivity was organized under the auspices of the Department of Architecture and Planning of NED University. In which Principal Architecture TAQ Associates Tariq Alexander Qaiser participated as the note speaker. Dr. Anila Naeem, chairperson of the department of architecture, addressed the reception. Speaking on this occasion, Tariq Alexander Qaiser, said the lack of mangroves will spread respiratory diseases, which is likely to cause serious damage to the human race. He further said that mangroves are being harmed due to industrial waste, construction of big buildings and various purposes. Dean ASC NED Dr Noman Ahmed said that mangroves have the capacity to absorb 2 to 3 times more carbon than trees. He further said that the sea boundaries are not mandatory for plantation of mangroves, they can be easily planted in homes and educational institutions. Experts said that cutting down forests/mangroves negatively affects climate change, global warming and emission of greenhouse gases. While at the same time, flooding causes destruction of wildlife, reduced human quality of life, acidification of oceans and gradual loss of biodiversity. According to Jamia spokesperson, 9 papers were read in this two-day conference. Architect Rabia Asim thanked the guests while delivering the closing remarks.
