Mustafa Kamal advocates unity and dialogue amidst political turmoil

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MOM-P) member Mustafa Kamal expressed his views on the current political situation in Pakistan, likening it to a “bed of thorns” rather than “a bed of roses” on Wednesday.

The former chairman of the Pak Sarzameen Party stressed the importance of dialogue among all political parties. He stated that there was no need for “bargaining” when it comes to the interests of Pakistan.

He pointed out that his party MQM-P already established friendly relationship with various parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and settled many issues three months prior.

Kamal urged for dialogue between all political parties and other stakeholders, including the former chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan and PML-N’s supremo Nawaz Sharif. He said that the welfare of Pakistani public should be prioritised over personal gains.

Kamal said that no one raised an issue when the Results Transmission System (RTS) was shut down during the election. He said that there needs to be accountability and transparency in the electoral process. Kamal claimed he encouraged his party members to upload their form-45 online to ensure transparency.

The Results Transmission System (RTS) is an app created by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). It is used to quickly send election results from polling stations to the district and central results system during elections.

Meanwhile, form-45 is used during elections where the voting results at a particular polling station is written. It also details the total number of voters registered in a constituency, number of votes cast, and the number of votes each candidate gets.

Kamal also criticised the PTI for not accepting the mandates of other parties. According to him, this has contributed to the current state of affairs in Pakistan.

He called for unity among political leaders stating “we want to reduce people’s suffering”.
