Black Lace’s Colin Gibb mourned after passing at age 70

LONDON: Black Lace’s Colin Gibb passed away at the age of 70, the singer’s Sue Kelly confirmed on Monday.
In 1979, Black Lace shot to mainstream popularity through their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. The band came in seventh place with their entry “Mary Ann.”
Released in 1984, “Agadoo” quickly gained fame and became widely recognised as Black Lace’s most famous track. Agadoo found its place as a main fixture at all British weddings, parties, and other events.

Gibb’s passing sent shockwaves through the British music scene. The singer had just announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
His management expressed “profound” shock and sadness at his demise, describing him as a special friend and a founding member of Black Lace.
Over the course of his career, Gibb and with his band produced a string of hits, including “Do The Conga,” “Hokey Cokey,” “I Am The Music Man,” and “Wig-Wam Bam.”
Black Lace remained a successful group despite constant changes in the band’s members. Colin Gibb also continued to perform live with his band until recent.
