Ducky Bhai’s remand extended for four more days in gambling apps case

LAHORE: A district court on Thursday extended the physical remand of YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, for another four days in a case concerning the promotion of illegal gambling applications.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) produced the YouTuber before Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo after completing his initial remand. Prosecutors argued that investigations were still ongoing, particularly a forensic review of his devices and financial transactions, and requested an extension.

The YouTuber’s counsel, Ch Usman Ali, opposed the plea, insisting that investigators already had access to his mobile phone and laptop, making further custody unnecessary. However, the court accepted the prosecution’s request and granted a four-day extension. The next hearing is scheduled for September 1.

Arrest and charges

Rehman was arrested on August 17 at Lahore Airport, allegedly while attempting to leave the country. His name had been placed on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) in connection with multiple inquiries.

The FIR against him, registered by the state through the NCCIA Lahore, invokes sections 13 (Electronic Forgery), 14 (Electronic Fraud), 25 (Spamming) and 26 (Spoofing) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, as well as sections 294-B (Offering prize in connection with trade) and 420 (Cheating) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to investigators, Rehman promoted betting platforms such as Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365, and B9 Game through his YouTube channel and social media accounts. Authorities allege he benefited financially, while the public suffered losses after investing in such apps. NCCIA officials claim to have identified at least 27 promotional videos linked to him.

Just a little over a week ago before his arrest, he had posted about buying a house from his ‘hard work’:

Past legal run-ins

This is not the first time the 26-year-old content creator has landed in legal trouble. Earlier this year, the Motorway Police booked him in Rawalpindi for performing dangerous stunts on the road, including driving with his foot on the steering wheel. In 2024, he and his wife, fellow influencer Aroob Jatoi, were detained in Lahore’s Model Town for displaying firearms on social media.
