Michael Rainey Jr addresses alleged sexual assault incident during live stream

WEB DESK: Michael Rainey Jr addressed an alleged sexual assault incident that occurred during a Twitch stream on June 9.

The actor conveyed his shock and discomfort regarding the incident in a post on the image-sharing social media platform, Instagram. In the post, Rainey stated that sexual assault is never acceptable, regrardless of gender or status.

The incident occurred during a Twitch stream hosted by TyTy James wherein a woman approached Rainey and made an inappropriate advance towards him.

As the incident gained traction on social media, viewers condemned the act and criticised James’ sister for her alleged actions. In response, TyTy James publicly apologised for his sister’s behaviour.

James admitted that it was “completely wrong and out of line.” Rainey’s discomfort during the incident sparked discussion about sexual harassment against men, a topic which is rarely addressed or discussed.

Meanwhile, rapper 50 Cent got more than he bargained for when he weighed in on the incident. He faced instant backlash online for his comments regarding sexual assault allegations of Michael Rainey Jr.

On an Instagram post, 50 Cent downplayed incident, referring to the incident as an “aggressive advance”. The controversial rapper suggested that Rainey was “unharmed”.

However, amid extreme criticism, the rapper deleted his post. 50 Cent instead issued a statement conceding that sexual assault should “not be taken lightly”.

Meanwhile, Michael Rainey Jr responded to 50 Cent’s comments by simply pointing out the importance of mutual respect and condemning sexual assaults.

TyTy James has vowed to take precautions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
