NEWS DESK: Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a vibrant new trailer and poster for Zootopia 2, teasing fresh characters, a new musical track, and another round of animal antics in the bustling metropolis of Zootopia. The film will feature an original song titled “Zoo”, performed by Shakira, who reprises her role as Gazelle, the city’s superstar pop icon.
The sequel brings back fan-favourite duo Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), now rookie cops unraveling a new mystery that exposes a hidden reptile underworld. Their latest case introduces Gary De’Snake, a slick pit viper voiced by Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan, marking one of several new species to join the Zootopia universe.

Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the Oscar-winning team behind the 2016 original, Zootopia 2 is produced by Yvett Merino. The film’s soundtrack reunites familiar musical talent with exciting newcomers: “Zoo” is co-written by Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin, and Shakira, and jointly produced by Slatkin, Alex (A.C.) Castillo, Sheeran, and Shakira. The single drops October 10, while the complete soundtrack — scored by Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino, releases November 21, days before the movie’s theatrical debut on November 26.
Adding a playful twist, Sheeran and Slatkin also appear in cameo roles as woolly duo Ed Shearin and Baalake Lambkin, a pair of musically inclined sheep. Fans will get an early preview of “Zoo” when Disney and SiriusXM host an exclusive first listen on October 8 via Disney Hits (channel 133), airing hourly until the official launch.

“Zoo” follows in the footsteps of Shakira’s 2016 hit “Try Everything,” which became a global anthem and has amassed over 2.7 billion streams. The sequel also features a star-studded ensemble including Andy Samberg, Macaulay Culkin, Brenda Song, Idris Elba, Quinta Brunson, and Patrick Warburton, promising a lively, heartfelt return to Disney’s beloved animal metropolis.
