Nintendo Direct 2024: New Switch Lite, and other game updates

WEB DESK: Nintendo Direct presentation held on Tuesday showcased a wealth of new game updates and announcements, headlined by the introduction of a special edition “Hyrule Edition” Switch Lite.

Capcom revealed the “Ace Attorney Investigations Collection”, featuring remastered versions of two acclaimed spin-off titles: “Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth” and “Ace Attorney Investigations 2”.

Ace Attorney Investigations 2, previously exclusive to Japan, will now receive a wider international release. Both games are slated for exclusive release on the Nintendo Switch on September 6 this year.

Another highlight was the debut of “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” marking Princess Zelda’s first solo adventure.

Nintendo also showed a gameplay footage from “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond,” promising intense first-person action. The game’s release date is slated for 2025.

The Japanese gaming company also announced updates for “Nintendo Switch Sports”. These include a new installment in the Mario series titled “Super Mario Party Jamboree”. The installment has over 110 new minigames and online multiplayer for up to 20 players.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is slated for release on October 17, 2024.

Other titles confirmed for the Switch include “Stray,” “Perfect Dark” with online multiplayer, and a Marvel versus Capcom arcade classics collection.

The presentation also teased a high definition version of “Donkey Kong Country Returns” for release in 2025.

“Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake” will arrive on November 14, 2025, with HD-2D remakes of the first two Dragon Quest games also planned for 2025.

A role-playing game “Fantasian” is set to debut on the Switch by the end of 2024, rounding out the diverse lineup of upcoming releases.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite, featuring a gold finish and adorned with the Hylian crest. The Hyrule Edition Switch Lite is scheduled to launch on September 26 this year.
