Pakistan’s first web series, ‘Jo Bachay Hain Sung Samaet Lo’ set to make a splash on Netflix

Produced by Momina Duraid Films, this web series aims to showcase a positive image of Pakistan to the world.
Since media plays a significant role in shaping a nation’s image, and HUM Network has been at the forefront of promoting a softer image of Pakistan since its inception, this new web series is a continuation of this endeavour, featuring an impressive cast of Pakistani stars, including Fawad Khan, Maira Khan, Sanam Saeed, Maya Ali, and many more.

The story revolves around Alexander, a young man studying law at Harvard University, who faces numerous challenges and obstacles in his life. His journey takes a dramatic turn when he meets Lisa, an Italian artist, leading to significant changes in his life. The web series is based on Farhat Ishtiaq’s novel of the same name, which was shot in Pakistan, Britain, and Italy.

The production of the series has reached its final stages, with the crew working tirelessly to bring the story to life. Although the exact number of episodes and release date are yet to be confirmed, reports suggest that it may be released next year.

It’s worth noting that Netflix has been producing original content from various regions, including India and the Middle East. The first original web series from India was released in 2016 as ‘Sacred Games’, followed by dozens of films and web series. Similarly, Netflix’s first Arab original web series for the Middle East was released in 2018, and recently announced its first Saudi Arabian original web series, set to release on September 6. With ‘Jo Bachay Hain Sung Samaet Lo’, Pakistan is taking a step towards joining the ranks of these regions by producing its own original content for global audiences.
