Shah Rukh Khan injured on ‘King’ set, flown to US for treatment

Shahrukh Khan

WEB DESK: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been flown to the United States for medical treatment after sustaining an injury during the filming of his upcoming action thriller King in Mumbai, according to Indian media sources.

The 59-year-old actor reportedly suffered a muscular injury while shooting intense action sequences at Golden Tobacco Studio earlier this week. While details remain undisclosed, sources close to the production told Bollywood Hungama that Khan has been advised a month-long recovery period before resuming work.

“SRK aggravated existing muscular injuries while performing stunts,” revealed a production insider, speaking on condition of anonymity. “As a precaution, his medical team recommended specialized treatment abroad. It’s not life-threatening but requires proper rehabilitation.”

O Dear Bollywood!

The incident has forced rescheduling of the film’s shooting calendar, with the next production block now expected to commence in September or October. Directed by Siddharth Anand (PathaanWar), the pan-India project features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and marks the acting debut of Khan’s daughter Suhana in a feature film. She earlier appeared in a Netflix series Archies.

Medical experts familiar with such cases suggest action stars often develop chronic musculoskeletal issues. “Repeated stunt work causes cumulative damage,” explained Dr. Rajesh Khanna, a Mumbai-based sports medicine specialist unconnected to Khan’s case. “International centers sometimes offer advanced regenerative therapies.”

The actor’s representatives have not issued an official statement. Khan, known for performing his own stunts in recent blockbusters like Pathaan and Jawan, was last seen publicly at a Mumbai cricket event on July 14.

King, described by production house Yash Raj Films as “a high-octane crime saga,” is slated for late 2026 release. Industry analysts suggest the delay won’t significantly impact the ₹500 crore project’s schedule.
