Suno Chanda, Humsafar: Indian comedians go viral with YouTube ban

Ever since the deplorable Pahalgam attack, India has been beating war drums after putting the entire blame on Pakistan, but to think the country which has often been called world’s biggest ‘democracy’ went on a banning spree, ended up proving that the neighbour Pakistan’s soft power was thus unmatched. In the wake of that spree, India has banned many news channels, podcasts and even entertainment like Hum TV on YouTube. If that was not enough, it then turned to Instagram to ban accounts of much loved Haniya Aamir among many others.

Indian comedians Shirin Sewani and Shibani Bedi however did a little spin on this on an Instagram video which has garnered over 100k views, in which both pose as boomer mothers complaining about how they are unable to watch their favourite shows.

Shot with angles that shows how usually parents speak to others over video calls, one complains about crying over how the mother-in-law gets the response in Humsafar while the other is more concerned about whether the couple in another drama would stick together or not.

“It was a part of my daily routine to watch Hum TV while having lunch or cutting vegetables during the evening,” one laments in the video.

The other blames her husband for jinxing it because he would resent her for watching the ‘Pakistanis dramas’ all the time.

“I don’t even know what will happen in Suno Chanda Season three!” the other quips.

Both women then go out for shopping groceries because they feel they do not have anything better to do with Pakistani entertainment banned now.

In the last two weeks since the Pahalgam attack, India’s response over diplomacy, mainstream media and social media has been very jingoistic while Pakistan’s social media lit up with jokes targetted at self and humourous memes.
