This Ramazan HUM TV’s ‘My Dear Cinderella’ brings fresh take on the classic fairy tale

KARACHI: Pakistani Ramazan dramas have a unique ability to captivate audiences with their heart-warming narratives and entertaining storylines, providing a refreshing break from the usual spiritual and devotional atmosphere that defines the month. Since people eagerly anticipate the numerous television shows that air during this time, HUM TV has recently announced a light-hearted comedy for the upcoming month titled ‘My Dear Cinderella’.

The drama – which will air every evening at 7 p.m. throughout Ramazan – promises to lift spirits and bring smiles to the faces of its audience after Iftar.

The drama boasts an impressive creative team, with its story penned by the renowned writer Hassan Imam. His skillful narrative is brought to life by the seasoned director, Mohsin Talat, whose exceptional expertise in the field is evident in every project he undertakes. Talat’s involvement is a guarantee of quality and is likely to exceed the expectations of viewers.

In addition to its talented writers and directors, “My Dear Cinderella” has also been expertly produced by Momina Duraid, a highly respected and accomplished producer in the industry. With her track record of delivering exceptional projects, Momina’s name is synonymous with quality, making this drama a must-watch for in Ramazan.

‘My Dear Cinderella’ unfolds across 30 episodes, meticulously building the narrative’s momentum and intricacy to keep viewers captivated from beginning to end.

The drama centres on Sana, a spirited and self-assured young woman who playfully dubs herself the Cinderella of 2025. Rejecting the notion of waiting for a prince, Sana embodies the belief that she possesses the agency to shape her own future. The drama carries an empowering message, demonstrating that daughters who have lost a parent do not need to succumb to a life of perceived victimhood. Instead, like Sana, they can find strength, resilience, and confront societal expectations head-on.

Playing the pivotal role of Sana is Zara Pirzada, who makes her acting debut in ‘My Dear Cinderella’. Already a recognised figure in the Pakistani entertainment scene, Zara is a celebrated model known for her distinct style and aesthetic sensibilities. Hailing from Lahore, she embarks on this new chapter in her career with the drama. Zara’s portrayal of Sana is poised to be a significant milestone, as she not only embodies a hardworking and self-reliant young woman but also delivers a powerful message about female empowerment and the ability to control one’s own destiny.

The drama offers a nuanced portrayal of stepmothers, particularly in the characters of Batu Bilqis (played by Jugan Kazim) and Zareen Gul (played by Tara Mahmood). Moving beyond the stereotypical stepmother figure, these characters demonstrate genuine care for Sana. Their performances not only provide comedic relief but also deliver the story’s underlying messages to the audience.

Furthermore, the drama explores themes of love, friendship, and selfishness, with the character of Afrasiab providing a significant narrative twist. Afrasiab is portrayed by Khaqan Shahnawaz, a well-known Pakistani actor, model, and content creator from Lahore, known for his substantial presence on Instagram. Shahnawaz’s acting talents have been showcased in previous dramas such as ‘Hadsa’ ‘Sukoon’ and ‘College Gate’.

‘My Dear Cinderella’ beautifully portrays the importance of individual strength, self-confidence, navigating love and anger, and advocating for one’s rights. Through its exploration of complex family dynamics, particularly the relationships with stepmothers, the show provides a realistic and relatable portrayal of personal growth.

With its strong script, excellent acting, and comedic elements, this drama is poised to resonate with audiences. The compelling combination of a well-crafted story and a talented cast promises to entertain and captivate viewers throughout the holy month.
