Tom Brady’s eldest son Jack appears to be stepping away from football, at least for now, as new photos show the 18-year-old trying his hand at basketball alongside NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns.

On November 25, Brady, 48, and the New York Knicks centre shared a joint Instagram post bringing their sporting worlds together. “Next time we’re running routes?” Towns, 30, wrote, tagging the seven-time Super Bowl winner.

The first image shows Brady, Towns and Jack smiling on a basketball court. In others, the two athletes watch as Jack dribbles across the floor, takes shots and appears to dunk the ball.

Jack, born John Edward Thomas Moynahan in August 2007, is Brady’s son with actress Bridget Moynahan. The couple split in 2006, and Brady later learned Moynahan was expecting their son. He went on to begin a relationship with supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

Brady has previously described that period as “very unique” and challenging for everyone involved, while Moynahan has said in the past that they focused on co-parenting their son.

Brady and Bündchen, who divorced in 2022, later welcomed two more children: son Benjamin, now 15, and daughter Vivian, now 12.

As Jack grew up, he occasionally showed an interest in following his father into football, even working as a ball boy for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he was younger. However, both parents have said he enjoys exploring different sports and that they have never wanted to pressure him into choosing a particular path.

“I think he’s a normal kid who doesn’t really know what he wants to do yet, and that’s okay,” Moynahan said in 2023.

Whether Jack stays on the basketball court or eventually returns to the football field, both sides of his family have made it clear they support whatever he chooses.
