In today’s society, dramas that reflect the ugly realities of our world are a pressing need. Take, for instance, the HUM TV dramas such as ‘Kitni Girhain Baki Hain’ and ‘Simmi’ and ‘Udari’. These shows not only entertain but also educate, making them a perfect blend of edutainment. (Edutainment refers to content that combines education and entertainment to impart valuable lessons in a way that is engaging and memorable, and the dramas mentioned above are a testament to this concept.) By watching these dramas, audiences can learn valuable lessons about the world around them, while being entertained by the stories and characters.
Another compelling drama that has been making waves on HUM TV is ‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’, which is currently running on Sunday nights at 8 pm. Written by Mustafa Afridi and directed by Saif Hasan, this drama is a joint production of Momina Duraid Production and Kasf Foundation. The star-studded cast includes Sajal Ali, Hamza Sohail, Rehan Shaikh, Samia Mumtaz, Ali Tahir, Chaudhry Muhammad Usman, Syed Tanveer Hussain, Adnan Shah, Tipu Mubasher Mahmood, Naureen Gilwani, Saad Azhar, Adeel Afzal, Najma Bibi, and Zaryab Haider. So far, 15 episodes of this 23-episode drama have been aired, and the audience has had a glimpse into the story and its intricate fabric.
As the plot thickens, viewers are on the edge of their seats, eager to find out what’s next. Each episode leaves us wanting more, and the suspense is building up to a thrilling climax. Will the characters ultimately triumph over their struggles and find happiness, or will their journeys be marked by heartbreak and despair? The questions are piling up. Will Menu finally achieve her dream? Will Menu’s father be able to overcome his past and support his daughter’s aspirations? What’s the nature of the bond between Meenu and Naufal – is it more than just a teacher-student relationship? And will the villagers accept Dr. Naufal for who he is?
‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’ is a thought-provoking play that shatters the traditional mould of romantic comedies and instead explores the harsh realities of toxic relationships and their devastating consequences. Despite its serious and emotional subject matter, the play is an engaging and captivating drama that proves that even complex and sensitive issues can resonate with a wide audience. The play tackles crucial social issues such as the health of pregnant women, child labour, family planning, gender-based violence, and drug abuse in underprivileged areas, shedding light on the struggles faced by these communities.
In the play, Hamza Sohail (Dr. Naufal) brings to life the character of a compassionate, courageous, and fair doctor, inspiring women to tap into their potential and make a positive impact. Sajal Ali (Meenu) shines as an enthusiastic and determined student, showcasing her emotional depth and ability to adapt to life’s challenges. Despite facing opposition from her own family members, she perseveres and finds strength in her father’s courage. Minal Qureshi (Muqds) makes her debut in the drama world as Roshan’s (Sheikh Mubasher Mahmood) beloved, while Manal’s character as Sajal’s nephew is gaining popularity among audiences. Samia Mumtaz delivers a standout performance as usual, bringing her character to life with her signature charm.
According to Saif Hasan, the director of the play, it is essential to venture beyond urban areas and witness the struggles of women in rural and underdeveloped communities to truly understand the importance of girls’ education. The hardships faced by these women are a direct result of their limited access to education. As women are the cornerstone of society, their education is crucial for social progress. Therefore, it is imperative that everyone plays a part in ensuring that girls receive the education they deserve.
‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’ is a drama that is also liked by critics. The story of this play is not flashy ‘Dialogues are simple but effective’ Scenes are real ‘Characters are simple but lively’ Each actor plays his role honestly in his place and according to the situation, it is undergoing a process of gradual change. On the one hand, there is the intensity of love. On the other hand, there is a beautiful relationship between the father and daughter. If there is a stay, on the other hand, there is a father who trades the blood of his own children. Here, if there is a father who takes money for his daughter, then there is also a mother who rebels for the sake of the same daughter. A girl’s decision to study and become a doctor and someone from outside to support her in fulfilling this dream and facing difficulties in this way are all stories of different directions which are beautifully written by Mustafa Hashmi.
