LAHORE: The fourth match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will see rivals Australia and England clash in the most anticipated match of Group B. All the latest updates will be available right here, as they happen on the field.
Match Information
The game is taking place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Neither team competed in any warm-up matches prior to the tournament, but did have their respective ODI series earlier this month. Australia had a two match series against Sri Lanka, while England had a three match series against India. Both teams fell short and were whitewashed by their opponents.
Both teams will be looking to gain some momentum in their first match-up of the Champions Trophy. And if either team wants to get off to a good start, they’ll have to do it by defeating their biggest rivals in the sport.

Australia beat England by five wickets
Australia beat England by five wickets in a high-scoring Champions Trophy Group B match at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Opener Ben Duckett smashed 165 to propel England to 351-8, a record total in the tournament’s history until Australia overwhelmed it, after they were put into bat.
Josh Inglis hammered 120 not out, and Alex Carey (69) and Matthew Short (63) made half-centuries as Australia reached the target with 15 balls to spare.

England have set a massive target of 352 runs for their opponent, thanks to a brilliant 165/143 innings by Ben Duckett.
Besides Duckett, Joe Root also made major contribution by scoring 68 runs off 78 balls.
No other English player could even score beyond 30 runs in stipulated 50 overs.
England had lost eight wickets with Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid remaining not out.

Ben Duckett has set a new record for the highest individual score in Champions Trophy history, surpassing New Zealand’s Nathan Astle.
Duckett smashed 150 runs, his highest score in his 20-match ODI career.
His innings included 14 fours and three sixes, reaching the milestone off 134 balls.
Duckett has broken Astle’s previous record of 145 runs.
Interestingly, the previous record was also scored against Australia, in the 2004 edition of the tournament.

England have suffered another loss with the dismissal of Jos Buttler.
He was taken down by Glenn Maxwell for 23 runs off 21 balls.
England stand at 281 for five after 41 overs.

After dismissing Joe Root, Adam Zampa struck again, sending off Harry Brook in the 34th over.
His catch was taken by Alex Carey.
Hook scored just three runs off six balls.
England now stand at 263 for four after 39 overs.

Ben Duckett made his third ever ODI century in the 32nd over, after he hit two back to back fours off Spencer Johnson, right before the drinks break. He now has made 102 runs off 96 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and one six along the way.
In the over prior, Adam Zampa picked up the third wicket of the match, dismissing Joe Root. The English batter made 68 runs off 78 deliveries before he was sent off via lbw. England used a review but ball tracking showed that it was umpires call. The decision stood and England are now three down.
England stand at 210 for three after 32 overs.

Joe Root added yet another half century to his illustrious career. It was his 41st in the format, and it came in the 23rd over.
He did it off 56 deliveries, hitting three fours in the process. Together with Ben Duckett, who made his seventh half century in the ODI format earlier, he has added 112 runs off 107 deliveries thus far.
England stand at 154 for two after 23 overs.

Ben Duckett brought up his half century in style with his fifth four of the match. He made his 50 runs off the 50th ball he faced in the 18th over.
Joe Root is nearing a half century of his own. The two English batters are nearing a partnership of 100 runs as well.
England stand at 129 for two after 19 overs.

Dwarshuis got his second wicket in the sixth over, dismissing Jamie Smith who made 15 runs before he left the field. It was Carey once again taking the catch, but no acrobatics were needed this time. A simple take put England down two.

Ben Dwarshuis picked up the first wicket for Australia in the Champions trophy by dismissing Phil Salt in just the second over of the match. An incredible leaping one handed catch from Alex Carey sent Salt off the field, as the English batter’s attempt to clear leg side just didn’t have enough on it.
England are 17 for one after two overs.

Australia won the toss and chose to field.
Steve Smith said the surface looks good and that he saw some dew come down during training. Jos Buttler said he probably would have chosen to bat anyways, but that it was fifty fifty. He added that he is excited for the game and confident in his team.
