The first match of the ICC Champions Trophy to take place in Rawalpindi will see Bangladesh and New Zealand face off. New Zealand is looking for their second win, which will confirm their place in their semi-finals. Bangladesh are looking for their first win, after losing to India earlier in the group stage. Toss, Opening Comments, and Playing XI’s
New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first. Skipper Mitchell Santner said that the Rawalpindi pitch is a different challenge. Bangaldesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto pointed to their middle overs stand against India as a source of confidence.

Shanto dismissed in 38th!
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was leading the scoring effort for Bangladesh, was dismissed in the 38th over on a delivery from Will O’Rourke.
Shanto top edged the ball high into the air, and out of the four fielders staring at the ball as it came down, it was Michael Bracewell who made the run from mid-wicket and took the catch. Bracewell now has a catch to go along with his four wickets.
O’Rourke now has two wickets.
Shanto made 77 runs off 110 deliveries, hitting nine fours along the way, before he was sent off.
Bangladesh stand at 163 for six after 37.2 overs.

Michael Bracewell continued to dominate on Monday, taking his fourth wicket on the first ball of the 27th over. Mahmudullah charged down the pitch, attempting a big swing. However, the delivery took a leading edge, sending the ball to the off side where Will O’Rourke took the catch near short third.
Jaker Ali is now batting alongside Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Bangladesh now stand at 119 for 5 after 27 overs.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto scored the 10th half century of his ODI career in the 24th over. He did it off 71 deliveries and hit eight fours along the way.
It was his third half century against New Zealand in ODIs.
He has led Bangladesh to a score of 113 for three after 24 overs.

Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed in the 23rd over on the fifth delivery he faced. The Bagnladesh wicket-keeper batter only managed to make two runs before he was caught out after a slog sweep attempt sent the balls traight to Rachin Ravindra at deep mid-wicket on a delivery from Michael Bracewell.
Mushfiqur’s bad luck continues, as he was dismissed for a golden duck against India in Bangladesh’s first match.
Bracewell now has three wickets in the match.

Towhid Hridoy was caught out in the 21st over on a delivery from Michael Bracewell. Hridoy only managed to make seven runs off the 24 balls he faced.
Bracewell picked up his second wicket on a delivery that Hridoy tried to send over cover. Unfortunately for Bangladesh, he ended up slicing it to Kane Williamson, who took his second catch of the day, over his shoulder.
Mushfiqur Rahim is now batting with Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Bangladesh stands at 99 for three after 21 overs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was never able to get going after he replaced Tanzid Hasan. Mehidy made 13 runs off 14 deliveries, hitting a single four and a single six in the process, before he was sent off on a delivery from Will O’Rourke.
The Bangladeshi batter’s effort to lift the ball over the leg side went awry, as he chipped the delivery from O’Rourke to mid-on where New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner took the catch.
Towhid Hridoy now joins Bangaldesh skipper Nahmul Hossain Shanto on the pitch.
Bangladesh stand at 64 for two after 12 overs.

A huge six from Mehidy Hasan Miraz on the last ball of the ninth over brought Bangladesh to 51 runs.
Mehidy blasted a shot over the sightscreen on the fourth ball he faced. A strong response after Bangladesh lost their first wicket earlier in the over.

Just as the partnership between Tanzid Hasan and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was nearing 50 runs, the former was dismissed in the ninth over. Tanzid chipped a delivery from Michael Bracewell straight to Kane Williamson at mid-wicket.
Tanzid made 24 runs off 24 deliveries, hitting two sixes and one four along the way.
Bangladesh stand at 45 for one after 8.2 overs.
