India VS New Zealand live updates: Champions Trophy 2025 final

DUBAI: India and New Zealand teams have arrived at the venue for the final clash of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final combat today. The encounter that promises to be thrilling will kick off at 2 PM Pakistani time at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The weather seems to be friendly for both the countries, and for the fans to enjoy the much-awaited clash

India Squad:

Rohit Sharma (C), Shreyas lyer, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Varun Chakaravarthy.

New Zealand Squad:

Kane Williamson, Mark Chapman, Rachin Ravindra, Will Young, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (C), Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Nathan Smith, and Will O’Rourke.

A SPRINT THROUGH HISTORY:

India has won two Champions Trophy tournaments, in 2002 and 2013. However, the 2002 contest brought India and Sri Lanka as ‘joint winners’ as rain washed out the contest twice. So technically, the fought and won title for India remains only that of 2013.

If New Zealand wins today, this will be their second Champions Trophy title. The last time they bagged this tournament’s trophy was in 2000, and that too, was against India.

Latham goes

Tom Latham had been standing strong with Daryl Mitchell since the 13th over, but Ravindra Jadeja’s LBW sent him back to the pavilion in the 24th over for 14 runs.

Glenn Phillips replaces Mitchell, as New Zealand stands at 108-4 at 23.2 overs.

100 comes up for NZ

after a very powerful start by the openers, now the New Zealand team seems to be in difficulties. The openers had amassed 50 runs by the 7th over, but to reach 100, it took a total of 21 overs.

By the end of the 21st over, NZ were batting at 102-3. Mitchell and Latham have cemented their position on the crease but additions to the score board remain slow.

Kane Williamson out!

Yadav bowled out Williamson in the 13th over for a mere 11 runs. Tom Latham joins Daryl Mitchell at the crease.

A much needed boundary for New Zealand comes in the 14th over, as Mitchell hits a four at a ball by Axar Patel. The remainder of the over remains fruitless, as NZ stands at 81-3 after 14 overs.

Ravindra loses his spot at the crease too

First ball of the 10th over saw Rachin Ravindra bowled out by Kuldeep Yadav, at 37.

He is replaced by Daryl Mitchell, who along with Williamson ended the 11th over at 73-2. By the end of the 12th over, New Zealand has amassed 75 for the loss of two wickets.

Young goes back to pavillion

The wicket comes as a much needed respite for team India, who not only lost Ravindra’s wicket to a wide ball, but lost yet another chance when Shreyas lyer dropped a possible catch.

Chakaravarthy, however, salvaged the over by getting Young’s wicket with an lbw. Kane Williamson replaces Will Young, as New Zealand finishes eighth over at 58-1.

50 comes up for NZ, ball gets caught, reviewed and then…

New Zealand’s openers put up a total of 51 by the end of 7th over, when Young hit a four after a couple of balls that conceded no runs.

Ravindra’s shot gets caught by KL Rahul but the batter wastes no time in reviewing the ‘out’ decision. Ultimately, the ball bowled by Varun Chakaravarthy was in fact wide, voiding the wicket.
