Bangladesh secured a thrilling four‑wicket win over Sri Lanka in their Asia Cup 2025 Super Four opener, successfully chasing 169 with just one ball to spare.
The chase was powered by half‑centuries from Saif Hasan (61 off 45 balls) and Towhid Hridoy (58 off 37). Despite early setbacks, they held their nerve under pressure.

Tanzid Hasan fell for a duck early on, but Bangladesh recovered well thanks to strong contributions from Litton Das, Shamim Hossain, and Jaker Ali, who added some useful runs in the middle. They were still a few runs short when three wickets fell in quick succession. However, the perfect batting by Saif Hassan and Towhid Hridoy, along with extras from the Sri Lankan bowlers, helped Bangladesh seal the win with one ball to spare.

For Sri Lanka, Dasun Shanaka’s 64 not out (37 balls) stood out, along with some useful support from Charith Asalanka (21 off 12). But Bangladesh’s bowlers, especially Mustafizur Rahman (3/20) and Mahedi Hasan (2/25), kept the opposition in check.
