First four overs, first fifty

Sri Lanka began their chase with top-order batters Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis opening the innings. However, their start was shaky as Mendis fell for a duck in the very first over, dismissed by Hardik Pandya.

Kusal Perera then walked in at number three, while Nissanka looked determined to anchor the innings and contribute significantly to Sri Lanka’s chase. Nissanka and Perera contributed unprecedented 47 off 21 balls and 28 off only 16 balls, guiding their chase up to 76 for just a wicket in 6.3 overs.
