Maxwell backed away and hoped onto the back foot to pull Axar Patel’s delivery across the line but lost grip of his bat and missed it completely.

The ball angled in sharply and shattered into the stumps and Maxwell had to walk back for just 7 runs.

Australia now stand at 205 for five after 37 overs.
