Syed Nadeem Ali Kazmi
President GPCCI
Germany and Pakistan’s enduring partnership, forged over decades, is rooted in shared values, mutual trust, and respect. This strong foundation has facilitated significant trade, business, and investment between the two countries since 1951. As President of the German-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GPCCI), it is a privilege to work towards boosting and further enhancing these ties.
Germany remains a significant trading partner in Europe, with exports and imports between our countries growing steadily. The bilateral trade has contributed to Pakistan’s industrial growth and strengthened Germany’s supply chain. The combination of Germany’s engineering expertise and Pakistan’s youthful and talented population presents immense opportunities for mutual growth. German companies such as Siemens Energy, Bayer, BASF, METRO etc. have successfully made huge investments in Pakistan and achieved high business growth over the past few decades.
There is significant potential for further collaboration in agriculture, textiles, renewable energy, education, health, and information technology. German manufacturers can further play a key role in modernizing Pakistan’s agriculture sector by providing cutting-edge, sustainable farming technology. Simultaneously, German food suppliers can tap into Pakistan’s rich agricultural resources. The representation of 250+ Pakistani textile companies at the Heimtextil Trade Fair in Germany already showcases the diverse product range and willingness for the textile industry to thrive. To excel, Pakistani exporters must adhere to EU regulations, such as the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (SCDDA) which emphasizes upon fulfillment of human rights standards across supply chains. German firms can also invest in Green Energy Projects like wind power, green hydrogen and solar power, as Pakistan’s renewable energy demand is growing day by day.
With the support and cooperation of our Patron, German Consul General H. E. Dr. Ruediger Lotz, and the new Board of Directors, GPCCI is proactively developing and enhancing Pak-German business and trade. We plan to act in the interest of the business community, lobby with the government to facilitate investments and empower big businesses houses and SMEs by arranging delegations to and fro Germany. Our networking events are organized to discuss and highlight core issues relevant to multiple business sectors.
On this German Unity Day, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to H.E. Alfred Grannas, German Ambassador, and Dr. Ruediger Lotz, Consul General. May this day continue to symbolize unity, progress, and prosperity for Germany.
