ISLAMABAD” Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, Imran Ali, has filed an application with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) requesting action against a Pakistani-Spanish dual national who has allegedly blackmailed him and his colleague, Ambassador Shujaat Ali Rathore.

Ali wrote to Director General FIA Mohsin Butt, stating that Mirza Nadeem Baig, the accused who belongs to Daska in District Sialkot, has been blackmailing two ambassadors in tandem with his successor in Barcelona.

“Six months after my departure (from Spain), my successor was accused in a harassment case and subsequently recalled to Pakistan. Despite being found guilty in two inquiries, he began to implicate me and utilized Mirza Nadeem Baig as a social media tool to blackmail the current Ambassador of Pakistan in Spain, Ambassador Shujjat Rathore, and myself,” Ambassador Imran Ali stated in his application.

The letter further reads that, “Mirza Nadeem Baig is now determined to intimidate, defame, and harm my official reputation in Barcelona and Pakistan through various means on social media, acting on behalf of influential groups in Barcelona,” and that “they are also targeting the Ambassador of Pakistan to Spain, Mr. Shujaat Ali Rathore, using similar tactics.”

Ali has asked for an appropriate investigation and prosecution of the offenders for obstructing official work and maligning the reputation of two serving Ambassadors, in public interest.
