ISLAMABAD: Ten electric buses arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday, with an additional 20 buses scheduled to arrive within the next 24 hours.
According to an official from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), a total of 30 buses operate from the Convention Centre on two designated routes.
The first route will span from G-11 Nust station to Pims, covering areas such as G-10, G-9, and G-8, while the second route will encompass Pims, G-7, G-6, National Library, Bari Imam, and Quaid-i-Azam University.
These electric buses are scheduled to operate daily from 6 am to 10 pm, with plans to extend subsidies to deserving segments of society such as persons with disabilities and students, as outlined by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa during a recent meeting.

To facilitate the operation of the initial 30 buses, a temporary depot with six electric chargers has been set up at the Convention Centre.
The CDA has been in the tendering process for the establishment of two depots since December 2023, with the National Logistic Cell emerging as the lowest bidder during the bidding process in February. However, due to cost discrepancies, the contract has yet to be awarded, potentially leading to a fresh tendering process.
