10 militants killed in intelligence-based operation in Zhob: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 10 militants linked to an Indian proxy group during an intelligence-based operation in Zhob district, Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation tracked militants across multiple routes in the area.

Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the deceased militants, who were involved in several terrorist attacks in the region, the ISPR said.

The ISPR said the operation to clear the area of militants is under way, and Pakistan’s campaign against terrorism will continue with full force.

The latest operation comes against the backdrop of a string of deadly militant incidents across Pakistan this month: a suicide vehicle bombing and assault in the Bajaur district killed at least 11 security personnel and a child on February 16, with 12 attackers also killed, in an attack claimed by the bannedTehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A mosque suicide bombing in Islamabad on February 6 killed more than 35 worshippers and wounded scores in one of the deadliest attacks in the capital in years, authorities said.

The recent violence has strained security forces and heightened tensions with neighbouring Afghanistan, where Pakistan has repeatedly said militant sanctuaries remain active, a charge Kabul denies.
