LAHORE: Despite the Punjab government’s provision of names of 13 prominent dealers implicated in the sugar scandal to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), no substantial action has yet been taken in pursuit of these individuals.

Sources indicate that these dealers serve as representatives of various sugar mills and, in collusion with the sugar mill owners, have significantly inflated the price of sugar, escalating it from Rs90 to Rs180 per kilogram. This price manipulation has resulted in the illicit accumulation of billions of rupees, as they operated in the form of a cartel.

Among the listed dealers are Majid Malik, operating in Lahore, and Noman Qureshi, who conducts business in Khushab. The FIA has been provided with their names and details.

Furthermore, two additional dealers, Sajid and Tauseeq, who operate in Khushab, have also been identified and their information has been shared with the FIA, according to sources.
