13 terrorists killed in Bannu military operation

ISPR hits out at anti-state campaign, terms it threat to national security

BANNU: Security forces have killed 13 terrorists during a military operation conducted in the Bannu district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

According to the military’s media wing, the intelligence-based operation carried out here took place on reports of terrorist presence.

During the operation, an intense exchange of fire occurred wherein eight terrorists were killed on the spot. Five more militants were neutralised in a related operation in the adjoining Kurram district.

The ISPR said the terrorists were linked to the Indian-backed group Fitna al-Khawarij, adding that sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining threats.

Security forces vowed to continue counter-terrorism operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign to ensure peace and stability in the region, the ISPR added.
