2,000 individuals get plots in first phase of ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz officially launched the ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ scheme aimed at providing residential plots to low-income families across Punjab.
At Maryam Nawaz’s request, Nawaz Sharif pressed the button to digitally inaugurate the scheme, followed by the start of the digital balloting for plot allotment.
The chief minister personally called Rukhsana, the first winner from Attock to congratulate her after she was allocated a plot, while Nawaz Sharif also extended his felicitations over the phone.
Maryam Nawaz said, “I congratulate the citizens who have received three-marla plots. We are delivering on real promises, not hollow slogans.”
Under the scheme, 2,000 residential plots were allotted in 23 housing schemes across 19 districts.
In the first phase, plot were distributed among 730 applicants from Jhelum, 388 from Kasur, 257 from Faisalabad, 219 from Lodhran, 130 from Okara, 55 from Layyah, 52 from Bhakkar, 33 from Sahiwal, 25 from Sargodha, 24 from Khushab, 20 from Bahawalnagar, 17 from Mandi Bahauddin, 15 from Rajanpur, 11 from Attock, 8 from Gujrat, 7 from Bahawalpur, 4 from Jhang, 4 from Vehari and 2 from Chiniot.
A foolproof digital mechanism has been put in place to ensure transparency in the scheme.
Over 483,000 people registered for the initiative, and more than 257,000 applications were received in the first phase.
The District Scrutiny Committees declared 18,308 applicants eligible for the balloting.
Meanwhile, across the province, more than 1.8 million people used the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ app, with 970,000 registrations. Over 118,000 individuals received loans totaling Rs145 billion under the project.
The PML-N leadership emphasized that the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to real housing solutions and economic support for low-income citizens.
