219 websites containing objectionable contents blocked

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has blocked 219 websites on the recommendation of law enforcement agencies and other government departments due to their pornography/blasphemous as well as anti-state contents.
Sources said that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked the sites on the recommendation of law enforcement agencies and government departments including ISI, FIA, CTD Punjab, Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Ministry of Religious Affairs, NADRA, PTML Ufone, Jazz, Fauji and Foundation.
The central bank and FIA had recommended PTA to block E-currency platforms as well as pornography/blasphemous websites.

Similarly, SECP had also recommended blocking loan lending websites.
In addition, ISI had recommended blocking spoofing and other malicious websites.
Sources said that PTA on the recommendation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs blocked blasphemous content websites.
PTA itself also blocked Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System’s (DIRBS), AWT investment company spoofing. PTA also blocked websites on the applications of the general public.
